MYPath Trail System: Your Adventure Awaits
Welcome to MYPath Trail System: Your Gateway to Adventure in Owen County!
Welcome to MYPath Trail System in Owen County. Enjoy scenic trail views, diverse outdoor activities, and a vibrant community. Whether it’s a family outing or a peaceful escape, our trail promises enjoyment, health, and lasting memories.
MYPath is the result of a dream to connect the Family YMCA, through Spencer, to McCormick’s Creek State Park. The Owen County Community Foundation. The Foundation has secured nearly $1 million in grants to add amenities and awareness to the trail system.
From the Family YMCA, MYPath uses shared surface with the sidewalk along SR 46. Then the trail uses Hillside Avenue in Spencer to connect with Main Street. The sidewalk on the east side of Main Street is considered MYPath. You will notice banners and sidewalk painting to illustrate the path.
At Cooper Commons park, you will see the first MYPath pavilion, overlooking the river. It is used by people to relax and enjoy a picnic.
Then, MYPath crosses over the White River on the Veterans’ Memorial Bridge. The sidewalk works for pedestrians, and an extra lane is painted by Owen County for cyclists.
One you cross the White River, you will see the new Trailhead for the Riverfront section of MYPath. This paved trail is the first multiuse trail in Owen County. The paved section is ADA accessible. Along the trail are natural surface turnoffs, including the Wetlands Loop and the Tree Tube Trail.
The Riverfront section ends when it meets River Road. We are working on the next sections. In less than 2 miles we could connect to McCormick’s Creek. That is the dream of this project.
Our next dream is to connect to regional trails too.
MYPath is free and open to the public. The paved trail is ADA accessible.
